Streamwood Park District and Restore Illinois Phase 3

The Streamwood Park District looks forward to continuing to provide diverse and responsive recreational opportunities through our parks, facilities, service, employees, and volunteers. 

In accordance with the State of Illinois’ Restore Illinois Plan, park district staff continues to plan for the return of programming and reopening of facilities as detailed in Phase 3. We continue to monitor the progress and are prepared to adjust our plan as we get closer to Phase 4.

Below are the details for specific areas of interest:

  • Park Place Family Recreation Center: Will reopen June 15 for walk-in registration ONLY. Full-time staff will be taking registration and answering phones at the front desk Monday – Friday, from 11a – 4p. Upon entering, all patrons above the age of two (2) are required to wear a mask and use the hand sanitizing station in the lobby.   • Community Center: Will remain closed to the public.
  • Hoosier Grove Barn: Events scheduled through June are currently being rescheduled. Barn staff is working shortened hours during the week to work with wedding parties or rental groups to reschedule these events.
  • Summer Day Camp: Staff is creating a revised version of our traditional day camps as many of our families rely heavily on camp for childcare. Currently, 2020 Summer Day Camps are being offered virtually. In-person camps are set to begin on July 6. In-person day camp groups will be at Park Place. You can register online for both virtual and in-person day camps.
  • Parks & Playgrounds: Playgrounds continue to remain closed. Parks are open for walking, jogging, running, biking, and disc golf, as long as social distancing guidelines are being followed and groups consist of ten (10) people or less. All other park amenities remain closed, including playgrounds, sports courts, the Sunny Hill Splash Pad, the Sunny Hill skate park, outdoor fitness equipment, shelters, pavilions, picnic tables, benches, outdoor restrooms, outdoor drinking fountains, etc.
  • Athletic fields: Athletic fields are scheduled to reopen on June 15 for rentals ONLY. Specific procedures must be followed by rental groups regarding group size(s) and social distancing guidelines. Field rentals are for practices only. No games can take place in accordance with Governor Pritzker’s “Restore Illinois” Phase 3 guidelines.
  • Athletic Courts: All sports courts, including sand volleyball, basketball, and futsal courts will remain closed.
  • Tennis Courts: Beginning Monday, June 8, all tennis courts will be open to the public with social distancing guidelines in place. Before and after play, everyone must maintain a minimum distance of 6ft. apart. Face masks are required for all doubles match play. All spectators and players waiting for a court must remain outside of the fence until a court becomes available.
  • Summer Programs: Staff is targeting Phase 4 for additional programming, such as dance, gymnastics, and sports. Further details will be forthcoming.
  • Community & Special Events: All events scheduled through June have been canceled. Events scheduled for July will be reevaluated.
  • Outdoor Group Fitness Classes:  Outdoor Group Fitness classes will begin Monday, June 15. Class times will vary. Group Fitness classes will follow Phase 3 Reopening Guidelines and limit each group to 10 people or less.

Anticipated Phase 4 openings will include sand volleyball, futsal, basketball, and tennis courts.

Any open facilities will remain open as long as participants adhere to the District’s guidelines for use of those facilities based on the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) guidelines.
