COVID Sports Safety Guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health

This guidance pertains to all youth and adult recreational sports, including, but not limited to: school-based sports (IHSA & IESA), travel clubs, private leagues and clubs, recreational leagues and centers, and park
district sports programs.

In order to abide by the safety precautions, we will be staying up to date with the current guidelines from the State of Illinois. The most important thing is to remain safe and we will continue to monitor the recommendations from
the Governor.

Current conditions allow for the following types of play per sport risk level:

Low-Risk
Play at Levels 1, 2, and 3
Medium-Risk

Play at Levels 1 and 2

High-Risk
Play at Level 1
Level 1

No contact practices. Training only.

Level 2

Intra-team scrimmages allowed, with parental consent for minors; no competitive play.

Level 3

Intra-conference or Intra-EMS-region or intra-league play/meets only; state or league championship game/meet allowed for low-risk sports only.

Level 4
Tournaments, out-of-conference/league play, out-of-state play; champsionship games.

Streamwood Park District’s Current Sports Play Levels

Baseball – paused until further notice

It is the recommendation of the State of Illinois to pause all indoor group sporting and recreational activities including youth and adult recreational sports. Individual training may remain (with facility reservation) which means White Sox camps are currently canceled. We are working with a contractor to offer Individual, private, and semi-private lessons.

Basketball – paused until further notice

Unfortunately, the state of Illinois has announced Tier 3 Covid resurgence mitigations going into effect this Friday 11/20. We will be forced to push back the start of our youth basketball program for the safety of all involved. We will sadly not be beginning our basketball programs until when Tier 2 is allowed again. In order for a region to move back to Tier 2 mitigations, a region must experience less than 12% 7-day average test positivity rate for three consecutive days AND greater than 20% available intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital bed availability for three consecutive days AND declining 7-day average COVID hospitalizations for 7 out of the last 10 days. With the holidays coming up we have decided to start our basketball program instead of in early 2021. Practices will begin in mid-January and if Level 2 play is allowed scrimmages will be hosted on limited Saturdays.

Flag Football – Medium Risk

At this time, we are not permitted to host official games and will instead host intra-squad scrimmages. Flag Football will include limited scrimmages while staying within the maximum capacity for large gatherings. Scrimmages will be held on alternating Saturdays and parents will be asked to social distance throughout the field. Masks are encouraged, however, once you and your group are socially distant from other groups you may remove your masks.

Indoor Soccer – Medium Risk

At this time, we are not permitted to host official games and will instead host intra-squad scrimmages. Indoor Soccer will include limited scrimmages while staying within the maximum capacity for large indoor gatherings. This may include limiting players to one spectator each to safely social distance or having parents drop off for scrimmages. We will stream the scrimmages live on our Facebook Page. Scrimmages will be held on alternating Saturdays in the Park Place gym with starting times 9a until 5p. Masks are required for all spectators at all times.

Outdoor Soccer – Medium Risk

At this time, we are not permitted to host official games and will instead host intra-squad scrimmages. Outdoor Soccer will include limited scrimmages while staying within the maximum capacity for large gatherings. Scrimmages will be held on alternating Saturdays and parents will be asked to social distance throughout the field. Masks are encouraged, however, once you and your group are socially distant from other groups you may remove your masks.
