SWIM LESSONS

SWIM LESSONS

Our goal is to make every student water safe. Our programming is led by Karen Gallione, a water safety instructor with over 30 years of experience teaching aquatics.

Our well-trained staff guarantees a positive and productive swim lesson experience. Please don’t hesitate to contact Karen with any questions you may have.

MAKE-UP POLICY

There are no make-ups for missed classes. Sessions run back to back. There is not a week off or break in-between sessions to accommodate make-ups. Make-ups cannot be done on a different day, location, or time than what you signed up for as each class has a maximum capacity aligned with the number of instructors pre-scheduled. Refunds are not provided for the value of one lesson if you miss or don’t show up for a day in a session.

REFUND POLICY

To receive a full refund (less the $5 processing fee) all refunds need to be requested at least one week before the first class. With a few exceptions (such as illness with a doctor’s note) refunds will not be provided once the first class of the session begins.

BABY & ME (6 months - 3 years)

Baby & Me introduces infants to the water. Instructors will demonstrate how the adult can properly teach swim techniques that will promote water safety for their child. We will focus on blowing bubbles, submersion, kicks, and back floating. Through water play and swim instruction, you and your child will develop a level of trust in a water environment. The infant must be at least six months old, and a parent/adult must accompany them at each class. This class has a one-to-one parent/child ratio. All babies should wear swim diapers.

LITTLE SWIMMERS (3 & 4 year olds)

(3-5 years old)

Little Swimmers is the perfect introduction to the basic skills necessary for swimming. The goal is to get the student comfortable with the water. The focus will be on the face in the water, flutter kicks, front and back floats, jumping in, and glides. Additional goals will be independent water entry/exit, rolling over, jumping to an instructor, and underwater bobs. Goggles will not be used. Adjusting to swimming and feeling comfortable without goggles is very important before using goggles in higher levels begins.

SWIM SCHOOL (5 - 14 year olds)

Swim school will focus on learning the fundamentals of swimming. We will be teaching front crawl, elementary backstroke, and treading water. Please bring goggles. Goggles will be allowed in this class ONLY after the student proves they can swim with their eyes open. The following skills will be taught:

  • bob underwater 10 times
  • front float 10 seconds
  • front glide
  • front kicks 25 yards with a kickboard
  • front crawl with breathing
  • back float 10 seconds
  • back glide
  • back kicks 25 yards with a kickboard
  • elementary backstroke arms and kick (monkey, airplane, rocket ship)
  • tread water 5 seconds using arms and kicks
  • front glide rolling into a back float
  • back glide rolling into a front float
STROKE SCHOOL (5 years +)

PREREQUISITE: Must know freestyle and backstroke.

Stroke School teaches participants all four (4) competitive swim strokes; front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, and butterfly, along with two (2) resting strokes (elementary backstroke and sidestroke). Flip turns will be introduced and water safety techniques will also be taught. Students must have a competent crawl stroke with breathing to participate in this class. Entrance into this class is left to the discretion of the instructor. Goggles are required for this class.

PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

Private lessons are designed for those who prefer one-on-one instruction. Each class is thirty (30) minutes long and can be a one-on-one or semi-private (2 swimmers per instructor). Instructors will focus on the needs of the student. The instructor/student ratio is 1:1. Instructors will contact registrants to schedule days and times for lessons. Each session consists of four (4) lessons.
