New FieldTurf installation gives the old Community Center gymnasium new life
Installation of the new FieldTurf at the Community Center, located at 777 S Bartlett Road, gives new life to the Community Center gymnasium.
Prior to the pandemic, the Community Center gym has been used for basketball leagues and rentals, consisting of soccer, baseball, and softball teams utilizing the space during the winter months. But now, with the updated flooring, the Community Center has a new calling and one that the community can take full advantage of.
The Community Center will now host the winter indoor soccer leagues, which in the past were hosted at Park Place Family Recreation Center in partnership with RUSH Physical Therapy. In these leagues, players were introduced to futsal, which is a form of soccer played on a hardwood service and with a smaller, less bouncy ball. Moving to the Community Center will give the indoor soccer leagues a much more traditional feel. The field lines have been drawn to include two half fields, and 1 full field, allowing for greater opportunities for organized practices and training.
Athletics Manager Jake Larson, who oversees the Community Center’s programming and rentals said “We are very excited about the improvements being made to the Community Center. These upgrades will allow us to continue to provide better recreational opportunities to the Streamwood community. The new turf will be a fantastic playing surface for many activities including soccer, t-ball, and flag football.”
The Community Center won’t just solely be the new home of the youth indoor soccer leagues. The new FieldTurf gives the Community Center continued opportunities to be rented out to local baseball and softball teams, as it has been also lined for baseball and softball.
