July 25 is National Intern Day. As such, we would like to introduce you to our Recreation Intern Brandon Spantiko. Brandon is a senior at Eastern Illinois University and has been working with our recreation team all summer long. Let’s learn a little more about Brandon and his experiences working with the Streamwood Park District…in his own words.
Hello. My name is Brandon Spantiko, and I am a current senior enrolled at Eastern Illinois University in their Recreation Administration Program. In short, I am a people person who loves the chance to talk and meet new people. I am a very outdoor/nature motivated person as well, where I enjoy going for long hikes or longboard rides. I also grew up playing baseball, still play in a men’s softball league, and typically will play any sport for fun with friends and family. Professionally I am very ambitious, feel passionate about the parks and recreation field and strive to make an impact in the community.
Working at Streamwood Park District has been an amazing experience thus far, where I have been given many opportunities to apply what I have learned in the classroom to tangible real-world scenarios. The recreation team as a whole have all been great mentors to me and have done a tremendous job taking me under their wings to show me how their operations and programs run. It is because of this fantastic team and all their individual talents, that I have been able to learn many instrumental lessons, trends, and strategies that I can take with me to further develop my career so I can be of better assistance in the future.
Thank you Brandon for all your great work throughout the summer!
