The Streamwood Park District continues to cultivate relationships with various organizations and intergovernmental agencies to build a better community.

Recently the Streamwood Park District hosted a meeting of the Salt Smart Steering Committee at Hoosier Grove Barn, 700 W. Irving Park Road. The Salt Smart Collaborative is a clearinghouse of information and resources for residents, public agencies and private snow removal companies whose goal is to provide a space for people and organizations to come together and focus on issues surrounding the growing impacts of chlorides on our surface and groundwater resources. The Salt Smart Collaborative is coordinated through The Conservation Foundation.

Beginning in 2023, the park district will host regular meetings for the Salt Smart Collaborative at Hoosier Grove Barn as well as in-person trainings at its facilities.

Last week, the Streamwood Park District hosted chainsaw training for STIHL USA at Park Place Family Recreation Center in partnership with RUSH Physical Therapy, 550 S. Park Boulevard. This annual training conducted by Andrew Gutwieler of STIHL USA included proper usage as well as equipment maintenance and care. Representatives from Streamwood Park District, Streamwood Public Works, Norridge Park District and Bolingbrook Park District attended the training. These training classes can count towards Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits for students completing training certificate programs.

In September, the park district hosted K9 training with various local law enforcement agencies at its new property at 360 Schaumburg Road and Equine Rescue Training in conjunction with Trail Riders of DuPage at Little Creek Farm, 1345 Schaumburg Road.

“The Streamwood Park District is very proud of the collaborative relationships we have built with these agencies and organizations and we will continue to build even more of them,” said Executive Director Jeff Janda.
