Ever wondered what happens during our annual maintenance shutdown at Park Place Family Recreation Center, 550 S. Park Boulevard? Here’s a list of the improvements that were achieved during our most recent shutdown from September 6-15:
Fitness Center
– A full deep clean of every machine and the flooring, including the hard to reach spots that don’t get touched during normal hours
– Preventative maintenance on all of our cardio and strength equipment to keep it running smoothly and stretch its lifespan
– Repairs to machines that had been sidelined, so the full lineup is back in service
– A reworked floor plan to open up the space and make it easier to move between stations
Group Fitness
– A thorough deep clean of all the equipment
– Stripped, sanded, and refinished the wood floors so they look and perform like new
– A fresh coat of paint to brighten up the room
– Rearranged the equipment for a better flow during class
– Removed the old PVC stability ball holders that were blocking the windows
– Installed a new drain line and dedicated electric for the dehumidifier to keep humidity in check
Gymnasium
– Stripped, sanded, and refinished the wood floors, giving the court a clean, fresh surface
Dance Room
– Stripped, sanded, and refinished the wood floors
Locker Rooms
– Deep cleaning
– Repairs to stalls, curtains, and other fixtures that needed attention
– New locker doors in the family locker room
Pool
– Waxed the red slide for a smoother ride
– Pressure washed the entire pool deck
– Polished all of the stainless steel
– Vacuumed and pressure washed the saunas
Around the Building
– New flooring throughout the lower level staff offices
– Maintenance on several of our HVAC units to keep the building comfortable year round
– An overall deep clean of the entire facility
– New movie theater style posters to promote our classes throughout the building, which gives everything a cleaner look and cuts down on the printed flyers we used to post
– Painting of the interior elevator door
We thank our recreation staff for all the hard work they put in during the shutdown. We also thank our patrons for their patience during the shutdown. We are happy to now welcome you back to see what we’ve done with the place!
