- Where does Dance Company perform?
The Streamwood Starlights Dance Company is the performing and competition company out of the Streamwood Park District Dance Academy. This group of dancers is split into 3‐4 different levels based on technical dance ability and age.
Dancers must be 7 years old to audition. Dancers should have taken formal lessons in either ballet, tap and/or jazz prior to auditioning.
Dancers must first attend the Dance Company auditions.
Dance Company has its individual level classes on Mondays and Wednesdays with a full company rehearsal every other Friday. If a dancer chooses to participate in extra competition dances they may have rehearsal any day of the week based on the studio, teacher, and student availability.
The cost of participating in Dance Company is going to be higher than a regular recital class for many reasons. First, there are more classes per week than the usual once a week class. Second, the more dances your child participates in means another costume fee, competition entry fee, or even as simple as more make‐up and hair supplies. Finally, Dance Company is required to follow a dress code for dance shoes and class attire. This includes the Dance Company jacket. We do our best to keep costs low and we offer payment plans to all families.
